Brazil's national development bank Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) provides long-term financing services for projects – including agriculture, infrastructure and industrial sector projects – within the country, as well as playing a major role in the privatization programs undertaken by the federal government. The bank is associated with Brazil's development, industry and foreign trade ministry. BNDES was founded in 1951 and is headquartered in Rio de Janeiro.
