Acciona Energía Chile S.A. develops projects on infrastructure and solar and wind energy, framed by the Chilean policies on energy matrix diversification. It has one of the biggest photovoltaic plants in Latin America. Located in Atacama, El Romero Solar has 246 MWp and started operations by the end of 2016. The company also operates the wind farm Punta Palmeras, and a wide portfolio of wind farm and photovoltaic projects. In 2014, by a public auction, the company was commissioned by the Energy National Commission (CNE) to annually supply 600 GWh of renewable energy to distributors of the Central Interconnected System (SIC), for 15 years since 2018. In 2016, other 506 GWh were assigned to the company to be supplied since 2022, from a 183 MW wind farm that ACCIONA will build in the Region of Araucanía. Besides, it will construct another park producing 87 MW in the area. The energy produced in El Romero Solar allows Acciona Energía covering the entire electricity consumption of Google's facilities in Chile, under a long-term agreement between both parties; contributing to the Google's goal to use 100% renewable energy in all of its global operations by 2017. The company also serves third parties and has built the first stage of the photovoltaic solar park Pampa Camarones (7.2 MWp), for E-CL (GDF Suez Group).
