Argentina's Energy and Mining Ministry is responsible for developing, proposing and execution of national policies relating to the energy and mining sectors. The department is divided into four secretariats —Mining, Strategic Energy Planning, Hydrocarbon Resources, and Electric Power. The ministry is responsible for overseeing and analyzing the electric power markets behavior, developing strategic planning for the use of energy resources, and promoting competition for the allocation of resources. It is also involved in the creation of renewable energy and energy efficiency policies. The ministry was created in 2015 and its head office is in the city of Buenos Aires.
