London-based Antofagasta plc is a holding company with interests in copper mining, transport and water distribution businesses. Its copper production activities are mainly concentrated in Chile, where it owns and operates three copper mines: Los Pelambres, El Tesoro, Esperanza and Michilla. The group's mining division, Antofagasta Minerals, is also actively involved in exploration, particularly in Chile, Ecuador, and Pakistan. The transport division operates an extensive rail network servicing the mining region of northern Chile, which is centered on the port of Antofagasta. Aguas de Antofagasta S.A. (ADASA), its water division which operates a concession for the distribution of water in the region was sold in 2015 to Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM). Antofagasta plc is owned by Chile's Luksic group.
