Description

Alumínio Brasileiro (Albras) is a Brazilian firm engaged in the production and sale of aluminum ingots. Based in Barcarena, in Pará state, it owns a hydro-powered smelter with an annual capacity of 460,000t, one of the largest facilities of its kind in the Americas. Albras is a JV between Japanese consortium Nippon Amazon Aluminum Company and Norwegian Norsk Hydro, who acquired Vale's 51% stake in the firm in 2011. The company was formed in 1978 and started producing in 1985.
