Luna Gold Corp. is a Canadian former gold producer currently focused on mineral exploration, mine development and mine operation. Incorporated in British Columbia in 1986 under the name of Belcarra Resources Ltd., the company is currently engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development and operation of gold properties in Brazil. The company aims to reinitiate production and operations at its wholly owned Aurizona mine, located in Maranhão, Brazil, which spans about 15,400ha and includes five gold deposits (Piaba, Tatajuba, Boa Esperança, Conceição, and Ferradura) as well as at least 10 other potential mine sites. Aurizona, the company's main mineral project, is in the Brazilian state of Maranhão, and consists of an open pit mine and a gold processing plant. Production at Aurizona mine is expected to restart in 2017. Luna Gold Corp has two wholly owned subsidiaries: Luna Management Inc. and Aurizona Goldfields Corporation. The latter controls other four units, all located in Brazil: Aurizona S.A., Luna Gold Investimentos Minerais Ltda., Luna Gold Participaçoes Ltda. and Luna Gold Pesquisas Minerais Ltda.
