Description

Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) operates as an administrative body and is responsible for the following areas: national policies pertaining to scientific, technological and innovation research; planning, coordinating, overseeing and managing activities related to science and technology; policies related to computer science and automation development; national policies on biosafety; space and nuclear policies; and controlling the export of sensitive goods and services. The Ministry was created in 1985, as the Ministry of Science and Technology, later changing its name in 2011 to Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. In 2016, the Ministry was merged with the Ministry of Communications, adopting the current name. It is based in Brasília, Federal District.
