Prolagos S.A. is a Brazilian sanitation service provider, a subsidiary of Aegea Saneamento e Participações S.A. (Aegea), and holds a concession for five municipalities in Rio de Janeiro state —Cabo Frio, Búzios, Iguaba Grande, São Pedro da Aldeia and Arraial do Cabo. The concession originally lasted for 25 years, but it was later extended for 18 years until 2041. Pursuant to the contract, the company must reach 98% coverage of the cities' urban population, and 90% for wastewater treatment. Since the beginning of operations in 1998, Prolagos has built seven wastewater treatment plants and more than 150km of pipelines with capacity for 80 million liters of wastewater per day. Rio de Janeiro-based Prolagos serves over 391,000 users and up to 2 million during high season.
