Medellín-based ISA secured a contract to build and operate 500/220kV transformers at the Nueva Cardones, Nueva Maitencillo and Nueva Pan de Azúcar substations in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions. The works are due to be completed in August 2021.
Enel Distribuición Chile clinched an award for the 220kV Seccionadora Nueva Lampa substation, due online in February 2020.
Consorcio Red Eléctrica Chile SpA/Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios was awarded three 2x220kV transmission lines: Nueva Pozo Almonte-Pozo Almonte, Pozo Almonte-Cóndores and Pozo Almonte and Parinacota. In addition it will build the 220kV Seccionadora substation. The first phase of the project is due online in August 2019 and the second in August 2021.
Consorcio Saesa-Chilquinta won the right to build and operate the Maitencillo-Punta Colorada-Nueva Pan de Azúcar 2×220kV transmission line and an associated 2×500MVA substation. The project is due online in August 2021.
ISA's contract adds further impetus to the firm's Latin America expansion plans.
In addition to its Chile growth, ISA has been building its asset portfolio in Brazil via acquisitions of existing assets and auctions for new projects.
Last month the company's Brazil unit, ISA Investimentos e Participações do Brasil, announced a US$213mn capital increase to help bankroll its purchase of a 41.6% stake in local transmission firm Taesa.
