Chile is the largest producer of copper in the world, accounting for close to a third of global copper production.
In 2014, the country produced 5.75Mt of copper. Chile's state-controlled miner Corporación Nacional del Cobre (Codelco) is considered the world's largest copper and molybdenum producer, having produced a total 1.84Mt last year.
Chilean copper production continued the trend reported in May – following three consecutive months of falling output – and rose 2.9% year-on-year in June to 513,791t. Production for the first six months of the year was up 2.4% to 2.94Mt.
