Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaker, operates 29 units for production and processing of steel and minerals in Brazil, through its subsidiary ArcelorMittal Brasil

Founded in 1917, Belo Horizonte-based ArcelorMittal Brasil is present in the segments of flat and long steel, carbon, mining, production and distribution of charcoal with over 15,000 employees.

The company produces about 11Mt of steel and 7.1Mt of iron ore locally. It reported a consolidated net profit of 803mn reais (US$243mn) in 2016 compared with a net loss of 1.79bn reais in 2015. Steel sales decreased 1.7% to 9.7Mt last year, with 52% of the total exported.
