Southern, which is controlled by Grupo México, is a private sector, publicly traded company, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona and has operations in Peru and Mexico. The company is listed on the stock exchanges of New York and Lima.
Southern posted US$776mn in net income for the full year 2016 compared to US$736mn a year earlier as sales rose 6.6% to US$5.38bn from US$5.05bn. Improved profits were mainly due to stronger metals prices and production, in addition to lower costs.
