Project Details

As part of Energoret's plan to build three hydroelectric plants in the Amazonas region, the Tingo I project endeavors to construct a production facility in the rural community of Chosgón. It will rely exclusively on waters from the Utcubamba and Magunchal rivers. Construction includes the erection of the hydroelectric plant, surge tank, substation and switchyard. The development of uptake valves and adductor tunnels is also required. Tingo I will capture its water in Pedro Ruiz at a flow rate of 58.5 m3/s and lead it through a tunnel to the powerhouse. The turbinate waters will then be moved through another tunnel for use in the Tingo II plant; en route it will receive the contribution of 17.8 m3/s from the Magunchal river. The water will again be moved through a third tunnel to be used in Tingo III. Finally, the water will be returned to the Utcubamba river near the village of Sirumbachi.
