Description

Chile's energy ministry (Minenergía) is the lead government agency responsible for setting policy and administrating the country's energy sector. The overall objective of the ministry is to develop and coordinate plans, policies and standards for the proper functioning and development of the energy sector, ensuring compliance and advising the government on all matters related to energy. The purview of the agency includes matters dealing with the study, exploration, generation, transmission, transport, storage, distribution, consumption, efficient use, import and export, and any other activities that relates to electricity, coal, gas, petroleum and derivatives, nuclear energy, geothermal and solar and other energy sources. Minenergía was created in 2010.
